Vetpharm (NZ) Ltd was incorporated as a company in June 1994. The company objective is to market and distribute a range of quality animal health products to the New Zealand veterinary profession and animal health industry.
The company has been structured to combine the experience, expertise, financial and other resources of its directors and shareholding companies, to enable it to effectively and efficiently become a significant force in the animal health industry in New Zealand.
The directors combine wide experience in business management, sales and marketing management, and technical expertise in the veterinary pharmaceutical industry.
The company was established on the premise that the opportunity and timing was appropriate for a well-resourced company to enter the NZ veterinary and animal health supply industry at the time of its inception.
New Zealand's general economy has had steady growth over the past few years, especially its agricultural industry. There are a number of multinational and local companies involved in the animal health industry. The industry is very competitive with several privately owned companies promoting products manufactured overseas by distribution agreements, as well as their own locally made lines.
The agreement to combine the human and financial resources of Phoenix Pharm Distributors and the other contributors to Vetpharm (NZ) LTD, was seen as an opportunity to bring the right blend of resources, experience, and expertise together to service the industry effectively, without entering as a direct competitor to existing firms.
The company’s objective has been to have clear focus on providing and marketing quality products to the animal health industry, especially veterinary outlets and the equine market in particular. The experience, contacts, and understanding of the market by all working directors is seen as being a major strength, and a marketing differential that has permitted the company to achieve rapid but controlled growth, while offering an experienced and professional service to both the domestic market and the company's product suppliers.
The directors have all worked together closely in previous successful ventures and their experiences are directly complementary, combining business, financial, management, technical and administration skills with a full understanding of all aspects of the target markets.
We offer our goods and services both directly to veterinary clinics and through the existing NZ veterinary wholesaling system.
There is the understanding to avoid conflicts of business interests between agency principals with respect to product selection, and to develop the market potential for all chosen products with full commitment and in field support.
Vetpharm (NZ) LTD rapidly became a major supplier to the animal health industry in New Zealand and has experienced steady growth from 1994 to the present day. It distributes products sourced from Australia, the USA, and Europe, as well as from local manufacturers.
Our product range is extensive and includes prescription products such as antibiotics, anaesthetics, anti-inflammatories and hormones, surgical supplies, nutritional supplements, equine products, and dermatological products.
Graeme holds a Diploma of Agriculture from Lincoln University. From 1972#1983 Graeme was employed by the multinational company May and Baker LTD, rising to National Sales Manager (Animal Health). In 1983 he established Phoenix Pharm Distributors Ltd. Graeme has grown this company to its present size. In 1994 we joined forces with Vetpharm (NZ) LTD as the most appropriate way to expand Phoenix Pharm Distributors business in the animal health industry. Graeme contributes his wide experience in the industry with proven business and financial management skills.
Bob holds a BVSc from Massey University (1971) and post graduate qualification in Veterinary Pharmacology with the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists. Bob commenced veterinary practice in the Waikato region, establishing Tokoroa Veterinary Services LTD with Wally Niederer in 1973. The practice grew to employ 6 veterinarians by 1983, servicing all sectors of animal husbandry in the region. The practice was recognised for its innovative merchandising of animal health products to the public and farming community. In 1980, Bob was a founding director and Technical Manager of Vetfarm Distributors LTD, a veterinary wholesaling company servicing veterinary practices throughout New Zealand Vetfarm Distributors LTD was sold as a going concern in 1987. In 1983 Bob was a founding director and Technical Manager of Techvet Laboratories LTD, a veterinary product importing and distributing company servicing the NZ animal health industry. Bob resigned his directorship in 1987 and established a private consultancy practice providing technical, management, and marketing advisory services to the veterinary pharmaceutical industry. He has been responsible for the licensing of over 200 veterinary products on the NZ market.
Wallie holds a BVSc from Massey University. In partnership with Bob Sadler he established Tokoroa &: Districts Veterinary Services LTD and was also a founding director and Financial Manager of Vetfarm Distributors LTD and Techvet Laboratories Ltd. Wallie has had wide business interests in the veterinary supply industry and specialises in equine veterinary practice and consultancy work. For 12 years he has been the official veterinarian for the New Zealand National and Olympic equestrian team and a board member of the Federation Equestrian Internationale (FEI). Wallie travels widely and advises equestrians in many parts of the world. Wallie is exclusively available to Vetpharm (NZ) LTD for his experience in business and equine expertise and will become a director of the company in 1995 following completion of constraints imposed on him following his sale of shareholding in Techvet Laboratories Ltd.
