Crospovidone is a chemically and biologically inert complexing agent that binds and deactivates toxins. It also absorbs water to form a gel.
Indication:
Aid in the management of diarrhoea caused by disorders of osmosis, secretion, permeability or motility, brought about by infectious agents, food poisoning, dietary changes and bacterial overgrowth. It is not a motility modulator. Can be used alone or in conjunction with antibiotics, fluids and electrolyte therapy. Rehydration therapy should not be neglected. The preparation is suitable for use without veterinary advice only in the treatment of minor cases of diarrhoea.
DOSAGE:
DOGS: 1 tablet/10–20kg b.w.
CATS: ¼ tablet/2.5–5kg b.w.
Give the recommended dose twice daily for 2–4 days or until symptoms resolve. Ensure animal has adequate fluids.
Special Precautions:
Seek veterinary advice for animals that exhibit signs of illness other than diarrhoea, including blood-stained faeces, or if diarrhoea persists after 3 days of treatment with this product.
