Xylazine base 20mg/mL in a sterile solution for injection.
Action:
Xylazine is an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist.
Indication:
A non-narcotic sedative, analgesic and muscle relaxant for use in horses, cattle, deer, dogs and cats.
Contraindication:
Shock, cardiac incompetence, severe respiratory depression, late pregnancy.
Toxicity/Overdose/Antidote:
10x normal dose could be fatal if untreated.
Antidote: Deer: Use yohimbine injection i/v.

Give the injection into the anterior half of the neck in food-producing animals.
Side Effects:
Anxiety, salivation, tremors, vomiting.
Special Precautions:
Keep out of reach of children. Avoid contact with the eyes.
Withholding Times:
MEAT: Animals producing meat and offal for human consumption must not be sold for slaughter either during or within 3 days of the last treatment.
MILK: Nil.
Human First Aid, Symptoms Of Poisoning:
If swallowed, DO NOT induce vomiting. For advice, contact a doctor or the National Poisons Centre (0800 POISON or 0800 764 766) immediately. If skin contact occurs, remove contaminated clothing and wash skin thoroughly. The antidote is yohimbine injection i/v.
Other Information:
Store below 25°C. Protect from light.
Use the contents within 28 days of first broaching of the vial. Discard the unused portion.
